California Gay Marriage Ban overturned/EFF YEAH!

Since someone was bound to start this, I'd thought I'd get us rolling.

Articles are few and far between as yet but it looks like a Federal District court ruling.

Looks like the Supreme Court will rule on it down the line. Or, just as likely, refuse to hear it when it gets there and call it a state Constitutional issue.

I'd hold the celebrations for a bit. Its got the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court to go through yet. Maybe its got momentum now, but that process is likely to take quite a while, and its going to be a HUGE bone of contention holding up the President's next nominee choice for the Supreme Court.

Cautiously optomistic. Apparently, this isn't over yet.

The question is, did the judge put a stay on gay marriages pending appeal?

Next it would go to the (historically liberal) 9th circuit court of appeals, and then to the Supreme Court... taking months or even years for each step. And either of those could decline to hear it on the grounds that it's a state issue and not a federal one.

I'm glad about this, but there's going to be more to it; so in the immortal words of Mr. Wolf...

I've been so busy at work today, that I haven't been able to follow along.

Fricking A. .this is some good news to stumble into.
