There was a thread like this at YABS, and I thought I should bring it over.

We know homophobia is a horrible and dangerous thing in our society, but sometimes you need to laugh at the lengths people will go to express their fear of something that poses no danger to them whatsoever.

Post your videos and links to articles or blogs that are just laughable.

Here's a juicy one to get us started. If you've been following NOM, you know exactly what I'm talking about. They are the same group responsible for the "Gathering Storm" commercial to warn innocent people of the coming "homosexual agenda". They are currently on their "Summer for Marriage Tour", which most agree is a scam to get footage of angry gay protesters. Every once in a while, they have a speaker that's just so insane all you can do is laugh.

I can't post it here, but I saw a guy's facebook status which said "God hates F***." I wrote dislike on it and so did a couple others, but the things the guy and his friends said to defend himself were hilariously crazy.

Nothing against this thread and please don't let me in any way stop you from posting funny stuff. In fact, please keep going because I'm hoping there's a way I can smile/laugh about this. But I only ever find this stuff depressing To be that hateful towards something that doesn't mean you any harm, what an absolute waste.

I don't know where she saw this but every now and again, my wife mentions to me that haters like pointing out that homosexuality is against nature. And yet, there are apparently animals that engage in homosexual activities. But if you tell them about this, their defense is usually "well they're animals, we shouldn't behave that way."

Oh, feel free to post whatever you want. I just sometimes feel that humor is the best way to combat hatred, but all viewpoints are welcome. Yeah, I hate the "slot A tab B" theory behind why same-sex marriage can't work. What about infertile people? What about people who choose to be childless? Marriage is more than a baby making institution.

Exactly. You can have a marriage without a baby, you can have a baby without marriage, whatever. I don't know why the haters feel so threatened. I've never ever felt the least bit threatened being with a gay person.

Somewhat related to this thread... Did anyone see that bit on Louie (Louis CK's show on FX) a couple of weeks ago about using the other f-word in stand up comedy? It started off as a funny intro to the episode with a bunch of stand up comedians playing poker then Rick Crom talked about how using the f-word might affect homosexuals. I thought it was an important conversation to show on tv, not sure if created a ton of backlash though.

I... I came into this thread thinking I could laugh and poke fun but in the end, I have to say that it just depresses me and makes me worry about humanity. There's so much of this crap that people have to deal with every day, myself included, that I can't see how giving these people any more attention is a good thing.

I'm not saying I'm ignoring that it exists, I'm saying I'd like to do more positive things in my own life than looking at homophobic asswipes and their idiocy. This thread at the old board always made me feel vaguely ill, and it was one I had been hoping wouldn't follow us here.

I'd like to think that we're getting better as a whole. It might take some time but hopefully we'll get there.
