Thread: Opinions Wanted!

    Opinions Wanted!

So I've been working on my solo project, OTHER ZOEY, for almost two weeks, now, refining my style (or finding one, rather) for this book. HOLLOW is very much realism and detailed lines, with Danielle providing texture and color with her painting, but as I'm doing ZOEY solo, I'm kind of experimenting.

Here's the latest version of the first three pages. I added a LOT to page three, particularly panel one, to flesh it out, more.

I'm doing this all digitally, drawing by mouth on a Wacom Cintiq 12X in Manga Studio and coloring in Photoshop.

    Feedback welcome!

    page 3 is MUCH better.

the lighting in some of the windows, and the coloring completly addresses my criticism earlier of the set-up looking too simplistic for the rest of the page.

    nice job.

Excellent! Thank you! I added more linework as well as detailing in the coloring. I'm much happier.

looks great... the first couple of panels is especially nice.

the rest needs a bit of increase in contrast... work some complimentary color schemes in here.

I'm having a hard time finding focal points. Nothing really pulls my eye anywhere. The contrast in the flashback panels works well. I'm wondering if maybe the backgrounds aren't just a bit too dark.

Line work is lovely and the shading looks good.

Partly that's to do with her being in a dark room, then outside at night, then in a dark room again. If I lighten the backgrounds, it'll look more like daytime. Hrm.

    Thanks!
Shouldn't need that much lightening. It feels like maybe there is a uniformity of light between the foreground in the background. I think that may be the visual problem I've totally failed to convey.
