This is a sketch I made about Batgirl.

After seeing Steph giving Bruce a good slap in his face, she won my total admiration.

A watercolor pencil study of tree bark. The house in the background could have been better, but the ants were attacking me.

Jim, I'm liking how you're trying to mix up your angles here a little... I'm curious though, are these both supposed to be the same person in each character sheet? If so, I'd recommend working hard on trying to focus on giving these characters some "basics" so that the reader will know it's the same person. Such as establishing a hair style, and then following that through. Eyebrow shape would also help. Each of the males heads seems to change. (Though I'm liking the fourth sketch the best... the head directly to the right of the full figure). Also, spot your blacks more... when you use that diagonal type hatching, it tends to look more like it's smudging from charcoal or something. (Which works for the image where he's got the goggles on... looks like he's been working on an engine or something)... but other then that.. you've got to start putting more solid blacks in... and just remember, when you add lines of any sort to a face A. you age the face... or B. it ends up looking more like fur then shading or shadows.

The girl... I'm liking most of the phases of her... but in the full figure image, why is it that her breasts are dangling JUST above her belly button? That torso is to long. Her arms are strangely two different lengths. If you look where her shoulders are, then go to the elbow, you'll see that they're different lengths. You've got her left shoulder below her right, but her elbow is higher. Which would work if you had her arm forward or something... but that's not what you're showing here. See what I mean? Also, careful on giving her such "shoulders"... they're rounded as if they're padded up like crazy. Work a little more on giving that area wrinkles and folds, not the rounded curves you're doing more (lately).

Just some thoughts bud! Keep at it!

Hey, Jim, thanks for the input. They are the same character. These were some initial designs. The 1st upper left is referenced from a Clint Eastwood pic I found and I was trying for imagery like that. The 4th head might be the best but it's actually not how I really wanted the character to look. I was going for a bit more angular features. But I liked the final result so I didn't erase it. : )

In the full figure I was going for a walking type motion. The left arm is suppose to be bent and a little bit behind her torso. I wasn't working from any reference and concentrating more on the clothes than the woman. So that affected my final output.

Spot blacks tend to be a weakness of mine. I love a drawing with great spot blacks. When I'm sketching I often don't really think about lighting and thus I don't add many solid blacks. Something I need to work on.

Hey! Don't forget to pick a day so I can get your comic! I'll be at Matt's sometime on Wednesday Dec 1st. I'm guessing that probably won't work for you though.

Hey Jim, actually I was thinking of this coming Sat. Wed, I'll be up in Mass working... so that won't do for me at all.

    Let me know.

Bring along some stuff that we can maybe work on as well for spot black practice! I think you'll find it will make a huge difference in your stuff.

Pick a time during the day and I should be able make it. I want to leave the night open for a potential event.
