Actually, I am not very enthusiastic for a Torchwood without Ianto to begin with.
Well, some discussions with a friend had me thinking... Doctor Who survives through it's ability to change cast. In essence the show transcends the actors.

Torchwood, on the surface, seems like a series that could do the same. Secret agency of alien hunters? That could have some legs to it. They've killed off a lot of cast members over the years so they've established that things can change and that the cast can be fluid. So the key would seem to be if they could replace Barrowman in the lead role and keep the show going.

It could work with the right person in the lead.

Well, not just it's ability to change cast but to change itself in general. Every 10 years or so the tone of the show would change.

The question would be if they could do a tonal change on the show, and if it would survive that.

    Re: Doctor Who

I switched just in time from Cablevision (which doesn't carry BBC America) to FiOs to tape all of the Matt Smith episodes, but first watched the Tennant specials. He's growing on me, and I like Amy Pond because of the red hair and Scottish accent. Now they are running Torchwood from the beginning, so I can catch up on that. I've seen the first six episodes and thought it was interesting. Maybe it's just my TV, but does it seem like the music in Doctor Who is especially loud? It's tough enough for me to understand the accents when it's quiet, so I've started watching with subtitles. Just finished the two-parter with the Weeping Angels' return.

    Re: Doctor Who

    Thanks for the update.

I'm not entirely sure I want to watch more Torchwood. RTD has disappointed me and I just didn't enjoy Children of Earth at all--which may be more that his mindset just isn't entertaining or enjoyable to me.

I suppose it would be interesting to have Jack surrounded by people who can't die either.

On the good side, Starz starts up with more Spartacus this month. Yay naked gladiators and scheming Romans! (Not to mention Lucy Lawless' breasts, which quite interests my husband when he watches...)
Phoenix Legacy is a wonderfully entertaining rollercoaster read that conjures up the fantastical worlds explored in comic books yet provides a romance between unconventional characters.--review of Phoenix Legacy at Night Owl Reviews.

"Miracle Day" is a terrible title.

    "New World" was better.
