    It's a British show about a doctor.

He suffers some trauma during surgery and is suddenly unable to stand the sight of blood, so has to give up his post in London, and is placed as a GP in the middle of the country side far away from everywhere where he learns to interact with the locals on a level he never did in the city...

    ....

    ...No, shit, that's Doc Martin.

    No idea.

    Nah.

    "K-9, ATTACK!"
"Able to leap powerful bullets with a speeding bound!"

"Able to do powerful speed while on a single locomotive?"

Is the main character really named Doctor Who? Sounds like an Abbot and Costello routine.

    Who's on first?

Actually, his first name is Lester, but he's in hiding and can't admit that.

I'm assuming you mean the two-parter he wrote, set during WWI. Damn good story, and a bloody great ending in my opinion. Tennant really made me cringe with how brutal he came across dealing with the Family of Blood.

If you liked that, Cornell wrote another episode, during season 1 of the relaunch, called Father's Day, which was another really good episode.

The new series, by new series showrunner (and probably the best Doctor Who writer so far, in my opinion), Steven Moffat is incredibly new viewer friendly, and is the strongest season so far. I'd seriously recommend watching it. If you'd like to go back to the start of this era of Who though, I'd highly recommend doing so.

Some of the earlier episodes aren't the best, but in the long run it's a great show. If nothing else, I'd suggest watching Steven Moffat's story arcs from each season. Particularly Blink from season 3. It is without a doubt one of the best and creepiest hours on tv I can remember watching.

It's just The Doctor. His real name is a mystery. So far only one person has been revealed to know what his name is.
