After reading it, the only part I started to wonder at is when Dr. Cribbins wrote "I gotta know". I don't expect to see that sort of writing from someone as educated as a doctor.
That and when he says "Oh, I don't know much about the Internet, my nurse sets those things up for me". Hmmm...
Hell, he calls the guy a troll right from the outset.
Hopefully everyone who wants to buy a map will email first. That way he will never sell one.
It's just like years ago on Comicon.com, when Olney was asked about ORCA's tax deductible status, which he continuously stated they had. He danced around an actual answer, blamed everyone for being haters, then went on a rant about why nobody would trust his word on the matter.

Yes, the whole things sounds fishy to me, as well. And, suddenly, this doctor set up a blog just to post his emails with Rick Olney? I doubt this was a serious inquiry. True, Olney’s responses are ridiculous, from the outset with his “I assume everyone a troll until proven otherwise” (which should be the first and only Red Flag raised to anyone considering sending him money for anything), to his threat that he’s contacted the ISP, forwarded all emails to his attorney and told his local police about it. For what? For “harassment”? What harassment? They were exchanging emails about a product, I don’t see any “threats” in them. If Olney doesn’t want to hear from the guy, all he has to do is block his email address. Man, he’s an idiot.
Nevertheless, like I said, it doesn’t sound as if it were real. Plus, this whole situation with the maps is seeming like it’s taking more time than it should. First of all, not to rub it in, because he did come here and admit it was wrong, but that was really really REALLY stupid of Matt to just send Olney all his maps, free of charge, in the first place. Even if he didn’t believe all the warnings he got, or what he read on the internet, why the heck would you do that to anyone? After all the work put in to create them, you’re just going to send them to some stranger that you don’t know, and trust them to sell them for you and give all the money to charity? I’m sorry, but that was insane. If he was that desperate to sell them for charity, he could have sent them directly to the Disabled Veterans organization and let them sell them.
And now how could this be taking so long? Yeah, I know he had a wedding, but this was still pretty darn important. The minute the convention was “cancelled” he should have demanded the posters back. And when Olney didn’t send them back immediately, he should have had a lawyer contact him. We all know from history that Olney backs down immediately to real lawyers. And when Olney threatened to burn them it was time to call the local police. Even if Matt was personally away on his honeymoon, his lawyers should have been on top of this. Yet not only is Olney still in possession of them, he’s advertising them for sale, and claiming he hasn’t heard from any lawyers? Something about this doesn’t sound right to me.
Having read that thread earlier, I saw a person asking about the Neatoshop selling the map which in turn raised questions who was selling it.
I know we know because KJ wrote Matt and he explained they are maps he gave the site long ago to sell. However that information is not easy to know unless you read this thread. Even then with all the information here, it can easily get skipped over.
I also noticed someone from that Journalfen.net site I earlier linked to wonder who controlled the YouTube page with the making of the map. They asked because Rick links to it all the time.
If Matt Busch reads this thread, I really think you need to make some kind of announcement on your website or Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, etc.
You don't have to talk about legal matters of course. That's better left for private and between lawyers and police officials. However when sites like Bleeding Cool do stories it gets people to Google. They then find places like Neatoshop, they find the YouTube video which if you play it, still says it is funded by The Adirondack ComicFest. It confuses the issue for people who aren't reading this thread and know the full details already.
I would think a simple comment at one of your official sites saying Rick isn't authorized, yes Neatoshop is if you do want a map and since making a new YouTube video would be a lot of work, at least add additional text to the description underneath to stop Rick from linking to it as proof he's allowed to sell maps.
Agreed. And that seems like the kind of thing that should have been done immediately, which makes it seem very odd to me that it hasn’t been.

There are a lot of things Matt "should have done." The only way con-men ever succeed is when people fail to do things they should, or do things they shouldn't. We all have years of experience with Olney and a pretty good idea of how low he'll go and just how stupid/brazen/remorseless he is; perhaps Matt is still somewhat expecting Olney to act like a rational human being. An error like that is bound to result in foolish decisions.
Something I wish Matt would address that confuses me and I read this thread daily and believe I know every fact that has come out...
The last time Matt commented on the YouTube video was 4 weeks ago in this conversation.
I assume when he says more will be available soon he meant the Neatoshop? He would have made this comment about the same time he was posting here that Rick had control of all the remaining maps.

On Matt's website at his online store he has this up under the map. I forget the exact date it went up but I am thinking it was between 5-6 weeks ago.
Now if I'm a person who is excited to buy that map. I've never read this thread, have no idea who Rick Olney is...*NOTE* The limited number of maps available Online has sold out. I find Rick's site selling the map. I use his links and go to YouTube and view a video that says the creation of the map was funded by Adirondack ComicFest, the group Rick runs. That's going to be "proof" to me Rick is authorized. If I go to Matt's webstore and read that more maps will be available soon, that is further "proof" for me that it must be legit.
That's why I think Matt really needs to make a comment. He came here and as far as I can tell, that's it. He's never commented at Facebook or Twitter. Has Rich at Bleeding Cool even got a comment from him? I hope Matt can make a few simple changes to the YouTube channel and take away Rick's ability to cheat people.
