I never played Oblivion. 20 minutes into Morrowind made me hate it.

I much preferred Morrowind, much broader game.

Yeah a friend told me all about Troika games and their ill-fated business, so I was surprised to find Arcanum in the shops. Seems someone bought the licence.

Also, Perditio Street Station by China Mieville. One of the most absorbing and finely crafted fantasy worlds I have ever read.

You might want to try Oblivion as many people who loved Morrowind coudn't get past twenty minutes of Oblivion without hating it as Bethesda made it very friendly for the console crowd wheras Morrowind was stright up for the PC gaming crowd.
