Watching First Avenger now. Alright film even if doesn't feel like the right Captain America film at times. Chris Evans is close to perfect here as Rogers, before and after the serum.
Hugo Weaving is the best cast Marvel villain yet. Always pictured his face being a lil more gruesome but I guess they didn't want it to look too horrific, still though, his face is too "clean". It's a shame he got saddled with laser guns and guys in goofy black suits. Hydra and The Skull quickly distance themselves from Hitler and his forces, the whole thing feeling oddly disconnected from the actual WWII.
Also Bucky is every bit the dark menacing lil badass we know he's eventually going to be.
He also gets a quick handle on the shield! Bucky Cap forever!
I get this all the time. They say, "You really hate Daredevil. Look how mean you are to Daredevil." I'm like, "Would you really buy a book about him enjoying a sandwich? 'What a great sandwich. I'm going to eat this for 22 pages, and I'm going to be so happy.'" I may do it just to prove a point. Have Wolverine going, "This is the best bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich I've ever had in my life!"

As a writer, what I perceive as spoilers can be different than what other people perceive as spoilers. I have to be careful because I construct and deconstruct for a living, I know the rules, and can often know too much about a movie with very little.
Spoilers:
Saying Cap is uncomfortable with himself at the beginning of the film and that he comes to terms with leading is not just a spoiler to me, it's a character arc. And with so many characters, he can only have one so I have to assume it's his primary character arc. Each character will have one main conflict in the ensemble. It's a bigger spoiler to me than actually telling me who's in the last scene, and probably to other writers on the board. It's a structural spoiler. It's what drives good films. Knowing it means I know 20% of what's imporatant.
But it's no big deal. It's my fault for being here. And it may not be a spoiler to others, so again, not a big deal. Unless someone says something like "that's not a spoiler", and then projecting what they think should or should not be important to me.
EDIT: And though they may seem like an obvious thing that would occur in the film, it's now a confirmed thing.
Oh ok, I never said that. whew.
I respectfully have to argue with this. It's set up themeatically in both the Cap Solo movie and both Iron Man's.
Tony isn't a leader and Steve is still struggling to find his place in the modern day.
Not to mention comic wise, Cap has been the leader for like 70 percent of the Avengers comics.
I never liked Iron Man as leader of The Avengers and movieverse Tony taking that role would be disastrous. He's a mess.

Gotta say, James -- I relate exactly to what you say about writers being able to spit out half the beats with the smallest amount of information but I think the guys are right here.
It's math most people have done pre-movie.
Cap didn't do much leading in his film and since he's going to be asked to lead the team -- being a leader in the modern world was inevitably going to be his arc. The question for me is in the execution.
To each his own, though. I respect the idea that spoiler creep is kind of a subtle thing. No one thinks they're dropping plot bombs but eventually it all adds up and your brain has done the story arithmetic sub-consciously.
I think it's sad I already know every set likely to be in this film...
I thought exactly the same thing. And then I saw the film. And it totally surprised me - in story, in beats, everything. So don't think you know everything. Unless you do...
But I know it's hard for you guys to read stuff and you're worried about spoilers, because so many people have seen it before it's released over there, but even dipping into this thread seems asking for trouble. It's only a few more days! And it's totaly worth going dark for!
