This is great news, as I loved the original series (I would easily place it on a list of top 5 tv shows of the decade next to shows like The Wire and Lost).

Avatar: Legend of Korra is an upcoming animation project of Nickelodeon. This cable television network has confirmed that the project is currently staffing up for production, adding that Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko are involved and that more information will be forthcoming at a later date. Although there is not much information about this, they would make a new series or season related to the world of Avatar. A few days later, Viacom copyrighted the title: "Avatar:Legend of Korra". It's unknown when the series is going to be released for now.

Rumor is that it will take place 100 years after the conclusion of the original series, and that Karra will be an avatar from the Waterbending tribe. If that's the case then Aang would probably fill the Avatar Roku which would be kind of neat.

I bet we'd also get resolution to the whole (season 3 spoilers)

This is one series that has such a deep mythology that I just can't get enough of it. I'm really happy it's carrying forward, I would assume the lifespan of the series going into the future will depend on the movie.
