From what my friend's wife says, not too much.
just finished both seasons of the tv show.
i was wondering how close the show is to the books? and how are the books?
season 2 looks like it was 2 different books, since it the show had 2 different story lines in it.
thanks

I've actually been meaning to start a thread about the books.
The books are awesome, and while they are similarities between the two, they are quite different. Alan Ball's True Blood is more an homage to Charlaine's books than a literal translation. But you should read the books too, they're great.
I tried the first two books and the first few episodes of season 1 of the show. I'm planning to finish the tv series at some point, but, while I liked the books okay enough I doubt I'll ever go back and finish the series. It had some decent moments, but overall, I was less than impressed.
My wife and I have only watched season 1, and she's the only one of us that has read the books. She basically says that book one and season one match up okay, with the show adding importance to a lot of the characters that weren't in the book and tossing in some sub-plots that weren't there along the way.
She likes the show more, for what that's worth.
