As I remember it Basil Elks wasn't killed in the Punisher story preceding The List.

Resurrected Radioactive Spider becomes major Spider-man antagonist with the intellect of the teenage boy-genius that it bit while radiation was coursing through its veins. It wants revenge because it now has the intelligence to aspire to greater things in life but is limited by the fact that it is a spider, which is all Peter's fault. That idea could not go wrong...mostly because it starts wrong and just stays solidly wrong the whole way through, leaving it no opportunity to go wrong.

Sorry to derail, but the concept amuses me.

I'm doing some research for Spidey stuff and I'm trying to create a
COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF EVERYONE WE THINK IS DEAD

It'd be a big help if you could point out ANYONE I'm missing.
To keep the thread manageable, PLEASE READ this, the other posts, and try not to repeat characters.

Also, for the purposes of this research I'm NOT interested in people who have died BUT come back-- just people we CURRENTLY BELIEVE TO BE DEAD.

Also, no spoilers please for those who haven't read their Spidey comics in the last couple months.

Been a while since I read it, but I thought that was more about the guy in Peter's class than the spider itself.

Sometimes expertise is just knowing how to find the right resources. I used Spiderfan's database of characters to help me assemble my list.

By the way, I'll give a hearty plug to Spiderfan.org. I'm not at any way involved with their site aside from visiting it periodically, but it's definitely the best Spider-man resource on the web, even if it does run a month or two behind in updating the new material.
