The only movie that I can think of that is truly triumphant is Slumdog Millionaire since it almost became a direct to DVD movie that could've been forgotten. It's a fairy tale story for those involved (except for those kids involved in the payment scandal)
I see two possibilities.
1. The story itself is a story of triumph, and the movie make you feel good about this triumph.

They're using an obsolete yet valid definition of the word.
