Sigh... this is why it's pointless to try to avoid spoilers

Newsarama coincidentally posts a front page article about the history of a particular X-Man, the day after an X-Man reportedly dies.

First line after you click into the article? "Spoiler Alert!"

    thanks newsarama

    Yeah, that pissed me off.

Though, it's partly Albert's fault. I was unaware that anything big had happened yesterday. I should receive a comics shipment tomorrow. But he told me something major went down. He wouldn't tell me what, but seeing that Newsarama page told me everything I need to know.

Would it be so hard to have no image, a title that says "Requiem for An X-Man", and then a brief spoiler warning that clicking on the link will bring up a discussion of the X-Man that dies in this weeks book?

I mean I don't care about the spoiler myself, but it seems pretty easy to avoid screwing over people that do.

I didn't know - I don't mind spoilers, so I just went over to Newsarama, and I'm not pissed about the spoiler, just the character they decided to off. Sucks.

Marvel's been putting out ads about an X-Man dieing for a while now. All Newsarama had to do was black out the image on their cover story with a title like "History of the fallen X-Man" or something.

Instead, they put up a big huge image of the person. Anyone with at least a vague knowledge of what's going on in the X-books is going to immediately know why that article's there all of a sudden.

Exactly. It's not like this is a new complaint to comics news sites. You'd think they'd get it by now.

That looks like it will be hard to come back from.

    Spoiler:
Did he teleport as a final act? If so did they recover a body?

Some one spoiled that in the thread about Cheers on this board yesterday. 'Cuz, you know, you expect brand-new X-Men spoilers in a thread about fucking Cheers. Common sense isn't so common...

    Spoiler:
Yes. Bastion detected him and made sure Kurt ported into his arm. Kurt saved Hope and Rogue by then porting them to Utopia, where he died, Bastion's arm hanging out his chest, telling Hope "I believe in you."
