I don't like the kind of sexist angles of Criminal. A lot of the women aren't strong characters and, without sounding too femmy, they rely too much on the male characters and what's in their pants. It's like what Angela Carter said about Sade where the women are negative and the men are positive and through intercourse they electrify and the woman becomes worthwhile and significant. That's pretty much been every female character in the series.

Yeah you can say "ohh that's noir though" which isn't really the case in some places in the genre. Hammett and Chandler weren't really sexists and while they're femme fatales and stuff like that, that's not the only woman in their books.

While I did think Criminal was very good (while I was picking it up), I have to agree with this.

That's when she decided to get herself a home pregnancy test, which came positive.

That was yesterday. Today she went to get herself a proper pregnancy test, since we wanna be absolutely sure, but as of right now, it seems a reality already.

I am both very happy and completely terrified.
    Little Kiais!

Congrats to both of you, man.

That's not really a bad point, but I like the way Brubaker handles it.

Was he the first hero you ever really got into?

Same thing for Superman for me.

SA is the one I'm most excited about, because the roster looks the best to me. A lot of characters I really love on that book.

NA and Avengers are about even, although I'm pretty excited to see how Bendis handles an old-school Avengers team.

I think it is and while you can go "oh that's Noir. What are you gonna do" why not break a way from that "idea" of the form? Why not give us a female character who isn't a victim or a whore or this object or this doormat? Nothing is stopping you and you should take those chances with it.

Brubaker is still overall pretty solid for me, although I haven't been thrilled by Cap for a while.

Bendis...I tend to absolutely love everything he does BUT his 616 Marvel work. Hopefully not being bogged down in an event for a change will help, because I did really enjoy the first few arcs of New Avengers.

Art should be pretty great on all three.
