As an Avenger, I hoped with the solo series she'd have a shot to stand with the big guys, especially with so much hyped up about her. Having her series cut at just 7 series is disappointing on so many levels.
I don't get this either: Maleev needs a break, but he's working on an Icon book. Huh?
Weird how many people were comparing the then upcoming SW and Ms Marvel books, saying that due to the creative teams involved, SW would end up outselling and outliving MM.
    Little did they know.

On the SWORD note, it ended well at least. Look at it as a mini, and it's a fantastic mini

Exactly, doesn't make any sense. I enjoyed Ms. Marvel, and while I was sad to see it get cancelled I can at least feel like it had a chance to get off the ground and really tell some exciting stories with Carol. We get a slow start with Jess, and for most of the time she's not even in costume and it all was spoiled for me by the motion comic.

Yup. SWORD was fantastic, and while its sad to see it cancelled so soon at least in 5 issues it was a fun ride. I think I feel more let down with SW due to the hype from both creators on how much they had planned for the character.

I'm wondering if maybe the reception wasn't as great as they'd hoped so they just abandoned the project.

Sounded to me like he need a break from the Motion Comic. Seems like the two are pretty much the same.

i'm sorry guys. i really am. just to be clear. and i was more clear at the panel.

alex did the work of 24 issues just to make this story. it was a lot of concentrated spider-woman for one man. i got to come and go to other projects. this was all he was doing, day in and day out. when we got to 7, he needed a break. i didn't want to go on with it without him.

meanwhile, we've been deving our new icon book for two years. its something different. something bold. it's time to do that. if you love our work, you'll love it. it will be announced in chicago.

this was not a matter of sales or interest. we were number one on itunes for weeks.

thank you for digging her as much as i . she will be in every issue of avengers. and when the dust clears marvel has told us to consider returning to it and we might.

I hope you do so. As much as I love her on Avengers, it's not really the right outlet for her spy stuff like this was. I'd say the same thing for Black Widow too if this was her.

I'm just thinking you must have at least 30 issues worth of plotlines. From a writing standpoint, doesn't it kind of suck to shelve that?

And I'm totally looking forward to the Icon book. Best of luck.

Thumbs down Re: Spider-Woman ends with #7

well, I'm very dissapointed in this news.
with the brilliant work Alex (and he's definatley my favorite comic artist) was putting out I could certainly understand him needing a break or moving on if he wanted to try other projects, but why not put another artist on her title? Or even another writer if Bendis wanted to other stuff as well? I think the sales would've still been good. oh, well, its just a comic book- guess I shouldn't take it too seriously. but I will level this criticsm at Marvel~ I think they're too quick to cancel a comic book series, I never imagined that the Spider-Woman ongoing comic book series would be cancelled since the i-toons version didn't do well.

Bummer. The book was probably announced way too early, because it had everyone waiting for it like crazy. Then the motion comic kind of spoiled the story (although I give a ton of credit to Brian for throwing some changes in there), then it feels like it's pretty behind continuity-wise (at least to me) because she's still dealing with Skrulls, then the book ends. Probably not what everyone had in mind.

Ah, well. I didn't feel like it was either creator's best work (at least what's been released so far) but it's a pretty good title. At least Jess is sticking around.
