Hmm.. I never heard that. Maybe that's just in Dave Sim's mind???
No one ever told him that I'd reckon?
According to Sim, it was a "warning shot" from Marvel for his Wolveroach parody.
I never really thought of it that way, but it's kind of interesting.

So what was S'ym, Marvel's pet demon for Illyana?
If that is true, its how the wars of the future should be fought. A Kim Jung Il comic, with him as "Dr. Broom" would be devestating. Someone get Ron Zimmerman on the phone with the defense dept NOW!!Originally Posted by Cth

But he was saying something about how Marvel was upset with him parodying Claremont and Wolverine in Cerebus. Marvel created Spider-Ham as a result.
And I think Claremont was the one who did S'ym right?
So, there may be something to it, but I dunno.
S'ym was around for a long time, even sparking the Inferno crossover. He was no one-time character but a major supporting character in the X-franchise.Originally Posted by Cth
Here's the quote from the article (about copyrights from FOLLOWING CEREBUS #3):
"Likewise when Marvel did Peter Porker, The Amazing Spider-Ham (note: actually it was SPECTACULAR and not AMAZING)--I suspect as a warning shot across my bow over my doing Wolverroach. Essentially they did Cerebus in a Spider-Man costume."
Me now:
I mean, sure, there's some similarities between the two characters heads and all...but I dunno if it was intended to be Cerebus in a Spidey outfit.
Since Dave and Ger will be at SPACE again this year, I'm going to bring this up to his to expand on.

Dave Sim is a little crazy so I can't take much stock in what he thinks anymore. 300 issues of one thing made the man nuts.

Yeah sure, Spider-ham is a rip off of Cerebus and all women are naturally inferior to men.
