Closing in on a comic book collection milestone!

I just wanted to share this because I'm a nerd and I'm getting kind of excited. I've been sort of working on this collection since I was a kid, even though I didn't really realize I was working on it at first and have stopped and restarted multiple times throughout my life. If my latest eBay purchases come through and don't completely hose me *knocks on wood* I'm now one issue away from a complete run of Uncanny X-Men comics comics, from the restart at #94 through the current issue, MINUS #101...the first appearance of Phoenix:

I'll be looking around town for that one as well as on eBay until I fill it in and complete my run. Then I'll decide if I want to try to go back further than the restart at #94.

Uncanny X-Men was the first comic book that I ever purchased with my own money (#221)...at Safeway while my mom was buying groceries. Though it's been good and it's sucked, it has been pretty much the only series that I've wanted to have a complete collection of because of the sentimental place it holds for me.

I managed to trade for a copy of #94 about 5 years ago when the manager of my LCS got a lower grade copy in and wanted some stuff that I brought back from SDCC. Once I had that one, I was able to fill in many of the holes a little at a time when local shops would have sales. I was down to about a dozen issues needed when one of the shops had a big sale recently and I picked up about half of them. Then I got a couple more at a different shop a week later. Three more this week on eBay gets me down to just the one issue needed to complete the set and honestly, I'm kind of glad it's the issue that it is and not just some random one.

A great cover, one of the best storylines, one of my favorite characters...it just feels right. Now I just have to find it...

    I have issue 101.

But, I'm still a few issues away from having a 94-current complete run.

I was wondering how many responses of "Ha ha, I have one and you don't!" I'd get. Oh well. One of these days...

    Good luck completing yours!

Could do. I'm going out of town this weekend and won't be able to get into my longboxes until next week, so remind me, G.

tstonyts: Awesome! How close are you? Good luck with it...it gets pretty fun when you start getting close!

Jef UK: Cool! Anything you're looking for that I can dig for? I have about a dozen longboxes worth of random stuff and tons of TPBs and HCs. If you give me some idea of what you might be interested in, I can tell you what I have in that area.

I have been lucky to have a complete set from issue 50 on up. I got alot of those good issues like 94-102 from a college roommate who was graduating in 84 and sold them to me for a 12-pack
I do need to get Giant-Size 1 so I'd have all of the new X-men issues. sigh.
