What's your earliest memory?

Mine is of living in Berlin. I was 3 or 4 years old, and this shitty older kid (I think he was a pre-teen, but in my mind he was an adult) that used to bully a lot of the younger kids was picking on my sister at the playground and I threw sand in his eyes.

I was about 2-4 years old and I was climbing onto the toilet while my mom was blowdrying her hair at the sink. I slipped off it, fell onto the floor and hit the back of my head. The last thing I remember is somebody else running into the bathroom, and then everything went dark.

Then I woke up in an ambulance.

I think mine is when I was three and my little brother was born. I remember being in the waiting room watching Rocky and Bullwinkle and even though I could have gone into the delivery room I refused to wear the "Raggedy Ann and Andy" scrubs they had.

Mine too was waiting in the hospital for my younger brother to be born. I was 2 1/2 and I remember sitting with my grandmother eating chocolate chip cookies as we waited to see him and my parents.

My earliest memory is of sleeping in a netted, portable bed - mom says I was only a year old when I used to sleep in that. I loved it! I remember feeling so secure in it.

Next memories all happened around the age of two - just not sure in what order:

Nearly trampled to death by my sister's pony - I can still see his hooves coming down on either side of my head.

Going out to a restaurant for the first time - I remember taking a monkey dish full of peas and dumping them on the floor. Really embarrassed my folks.

Taking a wet hairpin and sticking it into an electrical outlet. It blasted me across the room, and left a hairpin-shaped pattern burned into my fingers (that went away after a couple weeks). After that, I couldn't plug in any electrical appliance or light until I was like...18. I still tend to hesitate before plugging things in.

Those are my earliest memories. For some reason, I forgot stuff that happened in my third year, but remember things from my fourth, to present. No idea why I don't remember anything from when I was three...probably slept straight through that year.

I remember growing up in Berlin. I was maybe 8 or 9 and this little girl had just stolen my candy bar. I was trying to get it back when some jerk threw sand in my eyes.

Fuck, I'm 33 and I remember almost nothing before around 9 years old. That's when my parents got divorced and I've heard that for many people with divorced parents that sort of thing is pretty common, to not recall much before that time.

I have a few sporadic memories though. I remember the smell and some of the sights of the old Metropoliyan Stadium where the Twins played before the Dome so I couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 then. I remember skipping school in the first grade with a little girl my Mom watched. We hung out at the bus stop eating fruit rollups until my Mom drove by in her VW Bug and spotted us.

I was 3. I had pneumonia and was in the hospital in an oxygen tent. They took my fire truck away and I cried.

It is either getting up in the middle of the night and trying to go to the bathroom with my eyes bandaged over after surgery, or crawling on the floor and having a hot iron come down on my arm. I can't remember which.

Might be smacking my head on a fireplace, but I was so young when that happened that I'm not sure.
