This might actually be illegal. You can't kill an animal if its a pet I dont think. If this guy actually goes through with the killing part, I think he may be in a bit of trouble, not much, but a bit.

Yep, he was pretty smart. Rabbits are listed as livestock which are immune from illegal status.

Also, I was just checking some state laws. In North Dakota, not sure about every state, it says animal is defined as anything alive that is not human, and cruelty includes death. So if other states use these same rules, I still say he could be in trouble if he does it.

So are you saying that all slaughterhouses in North Dakota are breaking the law? Have you ever pulled a weed, stepped on a bug, swatted a fly or misquito? If so, according to ND, you're breaking the law. Lovely.

Damn, and what about cities spraying for bugs? I can't believe that you would live in an area that had state sponsored killings like this.
