What we do: This is a fanbased review group, open to everybody.

As people post the reviews, I will add your name and score to a list in the main post and at the end of the week average the scores for an overall grade on the book. We grade on a scale of 0-10, the meanings of which roughly translate to:

10 - Everything I want in a comic, an instant classic
9 - Excellent, a nearly perfect read
8 - Highly recommended but it has minor flaws
7 - Very good, it does have some problems
6 - Above average but has deep flaws
5 - An average comic
4 - Below average, the flaws outweigh the good
3 - A disappointing comic
2 - Forgettable, a waste of time
1 - Stay away!! One of the worst comics I've read

No, that begins next week. Most of those people voted without the knowledge that this would be the new rule, so it's only fair. Besides, this week we've got two books that I imagine will be kind of active.

I got the Justaleague book. But this Existence thing, I have been to three stores looking and no luck.

Like GI Joe: Cobra, I was getting this book just to support a fellow benboer, not because I had any interest in the concept. Like GI Joe: Cobra, I'm thankful I supported a fellow benboer cause I was treated to greatness. Like GI Joe Co....just kidding.

You guys nailed it. Nick, being able to come up with a concept that's familiar but different enough to seem original is tough and you made it work. Likewise focusing on a main character who isn't really all that likeable and getting the reader to care about him is a tall order and again you made it work. I though there were some great bits of dialogue, the pace was good and there was more than enough going on to hold my interest and keep me wanting more. Ron, your art is outstanding. I love the choices you made with bringing these characters to life and you have a way of detailing emotion within the characters that is very nice to see.

Hell, I even noticed the cool coloring choices in the book. It's a great first effort and a first issue that succeeds in making me eagerly want to follow the rest of the story. I think people who pick up this book are bearing witness to the next dynamic comics team ala Brubaker and Phillips or Bendis and Maleev.

My store had a stack of them. They all looked damaged, though. The cover was kind of wrinkled.

I just finished my review of Existence 2.0 #1 in a new review blog at PCS. But I really liked the effort by both Nick and Ron!
