Is there a way to tell if a girl is wearing a weave just by looking at her? I know you can tell if the job was sloppy, but are there tell tale signs of a weave in a good job?

Why do more black guys have naturally long hair than black girls?

Re: The Official All-Things Black People Discussion Thread

Hey, Hooks, thanks for the opportunity to discuss things...

I'll start (since everyone seems to be posting 'light' things)

A recent study states that 'perceived racism is linked to weight gain in black women'

    http://www.boston.com/news/health/bl...stPop_Emailed2

The article states that these women were lumped into 4 groups, depending on how badly they perceive racism around them.

Every 2 years these women were weighed.

At the end of the study, they had all gained weight....the women who perceived racism the most were those that gained the most weight. The woman who perceived racism the least gained the least amount of weight.

While reading the article, I think I have a problem with how the study was conducted.

There seems to be no information on whether these women had any sort of physical fitness regimen at all. It doesn't state what their dietary/eating habits were/are. Any health problems (such as diabetes, which causes people to gain weight) are not mentioned. Are these women single? STay at home moms? Are they raising families?

Other than the fact that these women felt that they were victims of racist attitudes/experiences, and that they all gained weight...there isn't much other information to draw the seeming conclusion that they arrived at.

Again, only black women were studied. No Hispanics, Asians, gays, whites, etc.

Have you seen/heard of this study? What are your thoughts on its results?

    thanks.

Didn't he start this thread 45 minutes later than he was supposed to start it?
