Personally, I'd put 1996 over 1997 with MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, INDEPENDENCE DAY, TWISTER, and THE ROCK.

If watching Wicker Man hasn't made Cage's soul wither up, no way Con Air would.
"You may be a genius" — MACK!
His accent in the movie is the best (and by that I actually mean the worst).
Man, if we're talking Nick Cage movies that he should be ashamed of how about when he ran around dressed as a bear and punched people in the forest in Wicker Man? That movie was absurd, and not in a good way.
Con Air was fantastic.
Spoiler:
Con Air is a perfectly watchable popcorn flick.
Now if you had said Bangkok Dangerous...I could easily see good ol' Nic dying from watching that piece o' shite. I know I did.
It's not about "Con-Air" being a bad flick. I like it; just watched again tonight.
It's about his horribly-backwoods character portrayal. The forced accent just kills it for me.
Helio Gracie -> Rickson Gracie -> Pedro Sauer -> Allen Hopkins -> Steve Miller -> Me (blue belt)
I wanted to like the movie, but they changed too much from the original hair dryer.
