    I let a co-worker read The Alchemy...

I let an co-worker (an older gentleman) read all the issues of The Alchemy.

When he first looked at them, he asked me why i called them comic books...I guess they didn't look "comic-booky" enough for him.

After he read them, he said the artist must have been high as a kite!

    "high as a kite"???
    Was your coworker high?

Some people get Mack's style and some don't. I guess he falls into the "don't" category. It probably was just over his head.

I've lent some of mack's stuff to non comic readers and for some of them not familiar with comics it's a little tough to read. I tell them it judy takes an issue or two to get used to it and if they stick it out it'll be worth it.

I dunno. I kinda get the association. Most people connect surrealism with the drug culture of the 60s. I hasten to say how misinformed that association is, but it's probably one my father would make... not at all in a derogatory way. To some people of that generation the "High as a kite" appelation is complimentary, meaning more than ordinarily creative.

Or he could just be trying to be funny.
