I haven't read it since it came out in issues, but at that time, I enjoyed the first 12 or so issues.
and boy did it suck. I thought I remembered it being somewhat decent or even a brain free entertaining read. I just struggled through it. The Ennis issues were okay but nothing to write home about and after that it just meandered. I'm relieved I had a 40% off coupon coupled with $20 in credit I used on it to lessen the sting but still, I was shocked at how "meh" it was. Anyone else feel the same way? Or anybody shocked I wasn't awed by it?

Leaving aside comment on the compendium- For $5 you could have had six awesome issues (artwise for sure). Modesty prevents me from linking to it directly, but The Darkness: Accursed Vol. 1 by yours truly and Michael Broussard should be readily available at your LCS.

i haven't read the book but picked it up the other day and i swear you can kill someone with it. and thats just the softcover.
its a bummer you don't think its that good, i was thinking about picking it up at eccc this year if i can find it cheap. i love reading 90's era comics.
Ah, picked up Darkness:Accursed Volume 1 because of Hester's recommendation and Broussard is coming to my shop for FCBD. And that book rocked. Don't think I've been really interested in The Darkness but this book has got me wanting more.
For $5, that's a hell of a deal.

I read the Ennis issues and he lost me with the whole sexaholics anonymous bit, especially when coupled with cookie cutter women, and a story that wasn't very compelling.
I read the first couple issues, because at the time they came out I as really into Ennis, but I totally hated them and haven't read any others.
