People keep saying that "tensions have been high" since a shooting in january, but the truth of the matter is these two events are unrelated. This happened a few blocks from my apartment

I live in San Jose so it's pretty much all they're talking about on the news. I heard reports that he had some kind of automatic weapon. There was a high-profile break-in of a gun shop a few days ago where over a hundred weapons were stolen. Kind of makes me wonder if this incident is a direct result. So the shooter was wanted for parole violation, right? That's how this whole thing started. He was pulled over and knew he was going back to jail so he just opened fire. That's fucking crazy. However I can't say as I'm too surprised. With the tensions you already stated and the Oakland Police Department so understaffed (they don't even have an acting Chief at the moment) it was pretty much just a matter of time.

He's a dentist in the area. the shootings happend about 8 blocks from my apartment and his office. From what I know it all had to deal with the shooter missing a meeting with his P.O. which put him in violation. The first shooting happened after a traffic stop though, not sure if the cops knew who he was at that point or not. And, this might be my cynical side, but I think this shooting (or something like it) would have happened whether or not that Jan 1st shooting happened or not. People say "tensions are high", but the truth of the matter is, they're the same as always, but now some people have an "excuse" to antaganize one another and act out. I'm not saying the shooter was "acting out", but there are already some people that are trying to excuse his actions by tying them into the wrongful death back in Jan.
