Question External Portable Hard Drives - A Query

I'm in the market for a portable hard drive, mainly for backing up some art that I have on my desktop.
I've been looking at this one from Western Digital, which I can get from Dell for about $100.
Has anyone used this model or know of one that may be better?

    I seek thy knowledge, Benbo.

That's about right as far as price goes, but shop around on Newegg for some good or maybe even better deals.

Good luck. WD is a good brand, though.
Why do you still have signatures turned on?

    I'm currently using 4 WD 500GB Externals.
They are not the thin "MyPassport" versions that you are looking at though, they are the older and slightly bulkier "MyBook" versions.

I've seen WD get a lot of shit online, but I have never had an issue with any of mine to date.

    *touches wood*

All 4 are currently at capacity, so I am buying another one this Friday and I'm planning on going with WD again, only this time I am buying the 1TB instead of another 500GB.

You can get better deals if you look around. I know Fry's Electronics has a few 1TB external drives for like $130 and up (or at least they did when I last looked)

Hell...just looked and you can find them on Newegg for a bit cheaper. Saw a couple that were only around $120 for a 1TB external USB2.0 hard drive.

How is that possible, may I ask?

It has to be pron. Has to be.

I checked my current PC capacity and I'm only using 30+ Gigs. I don't think I can fill up a 300 G drive unless I somehow copy all my DVDs.

Re: External Portable Hard Drives - A Query

I could easily fill up a 1TB drive without even trying.

My primary HD on my PC is a 60 GB that only houses my OS. It has 3 extra drives in it:
    1 100GB - Full
    1 200GB - only about 100MB free
    1 150GB - 500 Megs free

Plus my Windows laptop has a 120GB drive in it that's almost full.

My Newly purchased Macbook has a 300GB drive in it that is alwready halfway full.

Plus I have a 200GB hard drive in an external enclosure that doesn't work that is also filled to capacity.

Then again...I do a lot of audio and video editing...So I have a lot of backup files, uncompressed video files...and fully compressed copies of said files. it all takes up a lot of space.

I'm currently planning on buying a 1TB external within the next few months to free up some space on the Mac.

I got two WD Passports (1x320 GB and 1x500 GB) and I'm really happy with them. It's really nice to not bother with external power supply and such. Easy to carry in a pocket too.
