So, he's going to shove wires into my pee hole while I sleep...

Kind of long, but it involves me being in a lot of pain. So, some of you might still appreciate it despite the length.

Months back, I was having problems running to the bathroom all through the night. My doctor guessed that it was a prostate infection even though the urine sample didn't show an infection. So, he put me on antibiotics and Flomax for a month.

The problem seemed to get slightly better for a few weeks, but then it started up again. He put me on a different antibiotic and a different medicine to shrink the prostate. No change.

About a month later, it progressed from getting up a lot at night to go pee to that plus burning while urinating. Another trip to the doctor and it went like this:

Dr: "If it burns then you have an STD"

Me: "No. I'm pretty sure I don't have an STD"

Dr: "Do you have any discharge?"

Me: "No"

Dr: "Hmmmm. Well, it's still probably an STD"

So, he shoves a q-tip up my urethra (no anesthesia! yay!) and gives me 2 more different antibiotics. A week later, they haven't gotten the results back from the q-tip swab, but my symptoms are no better. So, he gives me 2 more different antibiotics. A week later, the symptoms are no better.

I called them yesterday. "Oh, we got the results of your test back and you don't have any STD's or any other infections for that matter. We don't know what's wrong with you. So, we're sending you to a Urologist."

Within 2 minutes of being in the Urologists office, he already knows what the problem is and how to fix it; scheduled my surgery for Friday morning. They're going to put me to sleep, then run a camera up my urethra to find the stricture (a "pinch" in the urethra). Then, they'll run a wire all the way up to my bladder. Next, they slide a slightly larger wire over the first wire. They keep doing this, increasing the size of the wire until it forces the urethra back to the proper size.

From what he's saying, I'll be home by lunch, back to 100%.

I just wish someone would have figured this out 6 months ago before I spent $500 on all those antibiotics and suffered through all this crap. I'm happy to be getting it fixed finally, but damn, I wish my doctor would have sent me to a specialist sooner.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Urologist actually used the word "taint".

Dr: "Have you fallen off of a bike recently? Or fallen on a fence?"

Me: "No."

Dr.: "Hmmm. Usually this happens when you have trauma to your taint"

Me: "Oh. Wait...what?"

Dr: "The area behind your scrotum. Your urethra runs there but has little to no protection. If you got hit there, it can cause a stricture."





I'm guessing it happened in training when someone was trying to pass my guard, but I didn't think to much of it at the time.

Even still, if I have to put up with some pain for a few days, but he fixes all my current problems, then it's golden for me.
