As I've said all along, Final Crisis has had some *great* moments. I mean, really spectacular "this-is-why-I-read-comics" moments.

But it has also had lame stuff. Big moments happen off panel (or in other comics). Characters randomly appear from out of nowhere. Moments that could have been used to flesh out the main story are wasted on "kewl" scenes like Talky Tawny eviscerating a foe. Numerous references are made to continuity minutiae. And elements that were hyped in advance like Libra and certain character battles failed to match their ballyhoo.

It reads like a 12+ part epic, hacked down to 7 in a haphazard manner (with elements spread across other titles like Batman and Superman Beyond).

Good luck to who ever tries to read the hardcover that *only* contains issues 1-7!!
