Since i'm posting on the big bad DM portion of the board i'd like to know about your favorite "David Mack Experience". Where what it, when was it, and what happened to make it so memorable for you?
Before I even knew who he was, he was really cool to me. My friend Josh is the person who formally introduced me to Mack's work though, before that it was just odd anonymous kabuki murals that were appearing around my neighborhood.
For me? I dunno, every moment dealing with David is excruciating.
(Just kidding of course, don't lynch me or anything.)

Well, there was that time in Amber, when David and I fenced for 17 hours straight.... no wait, that was someone else...
How about the time we were in Paris, and the Germans were about to enter the city and we had all this champagne... no wait, that was Humphrey Bogart...
There was that time in L.A. when I had to bust David out of jail to help me catch these other criminals, and he kept singing "Roxanne" at the top of his voice... no, that was Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte...
... I give up...

Spoiler:
I don't think you'd class it as a 'favourite' experience, but years ago, when a came across this rather odd looking bald jewish man (sounds rude, but I assure you it wasn't), he recommended I search out and buy Kabuki by some guy called Mack... unfortunately I mistook Shi for Kabuki and didn't come across Mack (again, sounds rude... etc, etc) until DD!
oh how I laugh when I remember those days.
AF.

Way back, when David was much less famous, and Andy Lee was doing stamps with potatoes, they were at a comic book show in the hall of a firehouse in Delaware. After the show, they let my boyfriend at the time, Mark, and I, hang out with them a bit. It was a really fun time.
My favorite Andy Lee memory, tho, was last year's Pittsburgh Comicon, which was my Bachelorette party weekend. I got him to paint a picture of a bride on my arm! It was pretty & tickle-y.
Haha, that's the same thing I did tooOriginally Posted by AvidFan
But it all turned out well, because I kinda like Shi, even though I haven't picked it up in a while.
You don't wanna know what he does with the potatoes now!Originally Posted by T-dro

The first time I met David was this year at Pittsburg. He had put me under his +9 spell of "Compulsive Reading" with the Daredevil/Echo arcs and so I sallied forth from Cleveland to garner a signature for a "Parts of a Hole" TPB.
He was still unpacking when I got there. Folks were already queuing up to bask in his Davidosity and it was obvious that he was searching for a Sharpie(R). I gave him one of mine and invited him to keep it.
We got to talking about DD and he asked if I'd read any Kabuki. I said no, but I walked away with a couple issues and have been a fan ever since.
One thing I noticed was how I babbled on like a complete idiot in his presence. I watched others doing it as well. I think it's because he's such a great listener. A gifted listener, even.
He's very remarkable and I'm glad to have met him.
My girlfriend met him at WW Philly and she holds him in high regard as well.

My favourite Mack experiences? I have two. The first one was meeting David for the very first time at the first Toronto Comic Arts Festival back in 2003. I was a big fan of his (still am of course) and the only reason I was attending the show was to see him. It was just really cool meeting him and chatting with him and getting a sketch from him.
My second fave was at the recent Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon at the end of April where I dropped a crapload of money to buy some original Metamorphosis art from him but I really just enjoyed hanging out with him and Audri and us just chatting and joking around at his table for the afternoon.
I had this unusual dream last night, which I won't go into great detail about because it involves a lot of strange and rambling things that are hard to string together coherently. However, it involved Andy, Mandy, and David. It also involved a hot air balloon, fighting Lucy Liu with scissors, and riding David's "awesome blue bike" around some deserted roads, where I discovered that it was a really a battle bike. I'm sure I could tell the whole dream, but it would require more searing brain-hurt to recall it in a way that could be written out and understood. Some day...
I've had weird dreams before, but that one very nearly takes the cakeSo David is hereby banned from entering my brain.
Hehe, in related news, I might be more inclined to tell the dream with the nun-money where I unknowingly made out with my boss, Pete. I might be inclined to tell that one in detail, just because it involved nun-money!
