As people post the reviews, I will add your name and score to a list in the main post and at the end of the week average the scores for an overall grade on the book. We grade on a scale of 0-10, the meanings of which roughly translate to:

10 - Everything I want in a comic, an instant classic
9 - Excellent, a nearly perfect read
8 - Highly recommended but it has minor flaws
7 - Very good, it does have some problems
6 - Above average but has deep flaws
5 - An average comic
4 - Below average, the flaws outweigh the good
3 - A disappointing comic
2 - Forgettable, a waste of time
1 - Stay away!! One of the worst comics I've read

This read like one of those horrible 90's Punisher books when he had five titles a month and acted completely different in each one.

Frank Castle decides to shoot the most powerful man in America next to the President, for no other reason than what boils down to "I'm the Punisher", and then spends 22 pages running from the Sentry. Not a hint of the humor that made War Journal so great, drab art, and let's not forget the biggest problem with all this.

Who wants to read a Punisher comic where he's going to go after big targets we know he won't be able to kill?

The worst use of the Punisher I've seen in some time.

Or Matt Fraction. Or Gregg Hurwitz. Or David Lapham. Or Jason Aaron. Hell, even Zeb Wells.

They all get it. Based on this issue, Rick Remender doesn't.

This right there is the reason why I probably won't be reading this book.

And you just know that's just gonna be the premise for the opening arc so the book can get some sales. Then it'll turn into just another punisher book.

Hopefully.

Because really, Punisher vs. the Dark Reign is one of the worst concepts for a book I've heard in a long while.

Punisher really doesn't work as a serious character in the Marvel universe. War Journal worked because Fraction didn't take it too seriously.

I haven't read the comic yet...just bought it. I missed the final half of Fraction / Remeder's Punisher War Journal (budget cut-backs) but seeing how this was a light week I figured "why not?" $3.99 price tag be damned, it was a nice, seemingly double sized issue. And I love Remender and Opena on Fear Agent.

Just flipped through the thing - D'OH!

Regular sized issue with promo-filler. "The Punisher saga"? Sounds good, bring folks up to speed...but why couldn't this be a free giveaway like the other "saga" comics? Agents of Atlas preview? Cool, I guess. I was going to try the series anyway. But don't pad out a comic with promo-filler.

I'll read it tonight, hope it's good.
