Well, this was disappointing. Not because it was a bad comic, but because the advertising was completely false. What this issue turns out to be is a really nice commercial for an upcoming series, not the first issue of said series. Most of the book is taken up by profile pages, which do lend some insight into what looks like a very interesting cast of characters, and an interview with the creators, which makes me think that this will be a pretty good series. There's a 7-page preview story towards the end, and it gives the feeling that this is going to be fun when it actually comes out. Let's hope that Campbell can keep it coming on a monthly basis.
This issue doesn't get a failing grade from me only because, unlike DC's pathetic "Secret Files", here you pay what you get for. At $1.99, you don't feel too ripped off. But if I knew this was a glorified commercial rather than the premiere, I probably would have picked another book. Wildstorm's promotions department dropped the ball on this. Still, I can't pan this book outright because it did leave me really looking forward to the next issue.
