I was looking at a fifth grade spelling book, on a chapter about silent letters. They listed as having a silent "l" "salmon", of course, but also "chalk" and "psalms."
I sat there saying "chock" and "sahms" to myself, but could never make it sound right.
They actually have it more like "cumfut"
