Um...Sensenbrenner Wants Dictator for Life in the USA (continued)
by CONSPIRACY PLANET
Is it really possible? Bush For Life? House Judiciary Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.)has sponsored legislation to amend the Constitution by repealing the 22nd Amendment, which confines the President to two terms.
Sensenbrenner, architect of the National ID requirements, which are a violation of the Ninth and Tenth Amendments, is also a prime supporter of the repeal of the Bill of Rights using the USA PATRIOT Act.
If the Republicans hold their current strength, or increase it, in the 2006 Congressional elections, US citizens can expect this measure to pass allowing Bush to remain President.

JOINT RESOLUTION
Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd amendment to the Constitution.
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled (two-thirds of each House concurring therein), That the following article is proposed as an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which shall be valid to all intents and purposes as part of the Constitution when ratified by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years after the date of its submission for ratification:

i was under the impression that it was only two CONSECUTIVE terms...like if Billy Clinton wanted to run again he could...or am i wrong?
The 22nd Amendment
Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.
Section. 2. This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

That article was hilarious! Giving someone the right to run for an elected office they've already won two times makes them "dictator for life" all of a sudden? This "Conspiracy Planet" must be somewhere other than the Real World, I guess. Do they think this could possibly be approved by 2/3rds of the states in time for the 2008 election so Bush could run again? And what kind of "journalist" uses the word "confines" when they mean "restricts"? I wonder if they would acknowledge that, in their bizarre world view, FDR was a "dictator for life." This Amendment would only return the country to a system in operated under for most of its existence anyway. Can't say I've read a lot about any previous Dictators for Life in American history...
Plus, too many other politicians these day want their shots at the big chair for the parties to ever allow someone to remain President too long anyway.

Hey, if four terms were good for FDR
it will never pass. also, using credible sources wouldn't hurt.
