Aaron Eckhart would be a good CA with some extensive weight training.

I agree, but in the case of Captain America the best choice would have to include a fairly big guy.
not to say that s thinner person couldn't do it, just saying that the BEST depiction would be by a muscular (not overly body builder) and big man.

    Why?
well A) because the whole point of the super soldier serum is that it grew muscle to their peak performance. Steve Rogers went from a 150 weakling to a 220+ pound athelete. HE is the PERFECT athelete and that includes some size and muscle.

Second- that's the way the comics have always portrayed him. He is a big man in the comics. Just like the BD pieces depict him. He is not Spidey, black Panther, or Iron fist.

Yes, other sizes could play him but if you're looking to be accurate and the best,...then JC's body type is the way to go. IMO

Imagine in your head Steve Rogers talking, do you honestly hear JC's voice coming out?

If Gerard Butler could bulk up the way he did for 300, any actor could bulk up to play Steve Rogers.

You guys are getting way too distracted with build; that's surprising given the casting of Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man. An actor can be taught to build muscle and weight training, but relying on a wrestler to successfully emote is a much, much bigger challenge.

That said, I think it is also important to consider Marvel intends to do Captain America as a period piece; that's an important element in casting. You need someone that "looks" suitable for the time period, e.g. World War II.

My vote is for Jon Hamm.
