Hey John! I've been listening to some old WBs and I keep hearing mention of a Word Balloon magazine.
What's that all about?

Words of wisdom...
Hey John,
I commute 3 hours round trip to work everyday and more often than not that journey has me listening to your word balloons on my ipod. I used to think I knew alot about movies but my knowledge pales in comparison to the obscure nuggets you pull out especially when going back and forth with Brubaker. I have a feeling you won't divulge this but as is normal, I'm curious if you have had a negative experience with any of your interview subjects or even with a creator you admired and wanted to interview? We've all had that experience where someone we admired fell far short of expectations in person. You can even omit names if you have a story to share of an experience.
I'm also wondering if anyone has turned down the possibilty of being interviewed by you? I'm dying for a Word Balloon with Alan Moore, Garth Ennis, Neil Gaiman, James Robinson, Todd McFarlane, and Rob Liefeld would you be game to do any of these and have you tried to get any of these creators? Have you ever interviewed someone whose work you weren't much of a fan of? Is this why we haven't heard Liefeld on there yet?![]()
no real negative experiences as i was interviewing them
the only guest who seemed a little annoyed was marv wolfman, who wanted to take a bathroom break, but tolerated my questions and still seemed happy at the end of the chat.
only warren ellis, chris claremont and john romita sr turned me down.
i'm hoping i just caught romita sr on a bad day.
not being a big x-men reader i don't really care if i talk to claremont, and ellis was brief but polite when he said no thanks.
rob liefeld and i will talk when one of his new marvel books start. loeb introduced us, and he said he does listen to word balloon. we did a video interview in ny this yr, that newsarama never got around to editing. i want to talk about his kilraven series with kirkman.
haven't really tried to get todd yet. when his kirman thing starts , i'll bug him.
moore may take alittle while, but i think i'll get him.
count on garth neil and james at some point.
That's great to hear. I look forward to hearing you sit down with Garth, Neil, and James not to mention of course Alan Moore. If Fanboy Radio can get him, I have no doubt you can. It's also nice to hear that you haven't had any negative experiences. With the number of interviews you've conducted the numbers are in favor of at least a few. I'd say its a testament to the field that they are as forthcoming and welcoming in their interviews with you. Of course you are welcome to take some of the credit for that as wellThank you for taking the time to answer my questions. It's greatly appreciated!
You think the Cubs are going to win in our life time?
When was your first ticket?
As a Red Sox fan who had to wrestle with this question, I hope you Cubbies get your moment in the sunshine as well. Most of the tools are there to remain a contender hopefully the last couple you need to become champions will fall into place sooner rather than later. If for no other reason than to give that poor Bartman kid a break.
Hey John
Any future interviews that you have plan that you can share
