    depends.

some cons i've stayed with friends at theit apts or houses. some i've had the con fly me out, and pickup my lodging costs.

all have been worth my time. i wouldn't attend a con that wasn't worth my time.

that btw has nothing to do with the quality of the con.

ie: san diego last year wasn't worth the expense of me going out there.

I don't really have much friends so I suppose it would be more expensive for me...

    Hi John.

Every time I listen to your show, you come out as a very knowledgable and up to date guy as far as comics go (as long as the topic isn't X-Men related). Obviously you have to be in order to do what you do, but I've always wondered what are your usual pics at the shop?? Which books do you actually follow?? Or do you just read a little bit of everything (like your humble servant over here)?? Are you into trades, or do you still keep your long boxes at home??

Also, what's the best place to get pizza in Chicago??? I'd like to know your opinion in case I ever get the chance to go.

    Thanks!

i only interview people who write or draw books that i genuinely like .

there are many excellent chicago style pizzarias, like unos duos, and giordano's...but lou malnatti's is consistently great.

That's a good philosophy. It also means you read a TON of books.

Luo Malnatti's. Good. I'll keep that in mind.

    Thanks man!

    John:

Do you watch Batman:Brave and the Bold?

With the exception of the whacky portrayal of Aquaman (and WAAAAAAY too much Green Arrow) this show is great!

Based on what I read about it I thought I'd hate it but these guys love the Silver Age DC Universe- from the Sprang Joker to Batman and ? beating up all the lame villains from the 1966 Batman TV series there hasn't been many mis-steps.

You HAVE to talk to James Tucker!

    Hi John,

I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for the show. I recently downloading a bunch of episodes to listen to at work and I really enjoy them. They're very fun, insightful, and make the work day go by faster. Keep it up and thanks again!

I've only seen a few episodes... and probably not the good ones since I felt they were very childish...
