I don't understand why this didn't find a stronger audience. It was fucking great. Granted, Iron Man had the ultimate box office weapon in Downey, but still - I thought The Incredible Hulk was just as good.

I think the biggest problem is the jam packed popcorn movie summer wearing thin on moviegoers. Iron Man, Speed Racer, Indy, Hulk, Batman, Wall-E, and on and on people cannot afford to see everything. I honestly believe if Hulk was promoted better (they barely had any until just a few weeks before release) and came out in a not so jammed time it would have been huge.

I enjoyed this movie a lot. Perfect first act, slow second, really good third.

I dug it.

I think the last film may well have made people decide not to try it, but even more than that, the Hulk still looks a little silly in trailers. Big green cgi dude.

But I thought it was a cracking fun film.

Louis Leterrier might be directing a Superman movie, which could probably be taken a sign that all parties are moving on from THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

have to agree with the others that the bad taste that the previous one left in people's mouths probably contributed to the poor box office of this one.

which is too bad, because it was a damn entertaining movie.

i hope they do a sequel.

Considering they only did 2 weeks worth of promo and all but abandoned it once it hit theaters, it's doing as well as expected.

It had a number of strikes against it.

1) The 2003 film
2) Lack of advertising
3) Less theaters
4) More crowded summer than 2003
5) Rampant piracy

Lots of people are going to wait for the dvd release, even if they heard positive WOM.

Let's see what happens when the DVD is a big success.

Like bartleby said above...it's asking a lot of people to see another Hulk movie so soon after one that they didn't like. At a minimum, it's $20-$30 for something that the average person probably associates with Ang Lee's movie.

But a DVD is $5 to rent (or less with Netflix) or $15-$20 to own.

I think it'll do well there. This summer is brutal for movies that don't have an unbelievably huge first weekend.
