Yeah, it was somethin' else all right.
While browsing around a used book store, they had a stack of old comics including Malibu's "adaptation" of Street Fighter II. It really did bring back memories on reading comics in the early 90s...
When I was a kid, I bought Street Fighter #3. I thought it was neat to have a comic based on Street Fighter but years later it really was lame.
Even then, I kinda knew it was lame to have "The Ferret" guest starring. (They couldn't get Prime???)
I also remember flipping through #2 in stores where Sagat scalps Ken. Then Sagat put the scalp in a box and sent it to Ryu, which disturbed me.
Capcom told Malibu to stop publishing their book because of their bizarre direction. #3 included descriptions on future story lines including Ken surviving attack but wanders America bald and has amnesia.
Come to think of it... I should go back to the store and buy #1 and #2 to complete this bizarre run in comics.

I remember them being awful. Sagat scalping Ken...and then sending Ken's scalp to Ryu in a box.
Mind you, canonically, Ryu is a homeless vagabond. Let that sink in.
We have a few of those in one of our boxes...
I prefered the Viz ones, bad translation and all.
That was AWESOME.
Evil Twin Street Fighters?
Good Vega?
Blanca reading The Times?
We was robbed.
I really thought they were great. The art was terrific and Malibu's colors were awesome. Of course, I was 14.

I remember the artwork being decent. From what I remember Capcom wasn't happy with the series which is why it was canceled so quickly. I still have the issues somewhere. I remember the last issue (issue 3 I think) giving a synopsis of what would have happened had the series continued. Only thing I remember was that Ken was still alive and would come back bald.
The Mortal Kombat comics could've been better too.
