After reading your review I would go see this movie... Why? Because the things you point out as good are the movie, the bad.... 3 releases of the DVD, you being the genius that you are figuring out the split personality early on... who the hell cares about those things? We have to suspend disbelief in everything we watch, doesn't mean the movie is any bad for it (because the thought of Hyper drive and fighting with Lightsabers is just completly impossible thus Star Wars should suck).

I loved this movie and it's too bad you didn't.

Ironically enough, this was on HBO2 last night. The more I think about the twist, the less sense that it makes, so overall, the film takes a nose dive for me. I think I liked it more when I saw it back a few years ago. I do love some scenes though, like the part where Norton beats himself up in his boss's office. The music was great also.

Got to say I love this movie.
When it came out, I saw it two nights in a row at the theater which is something I've never done before.
My favorite Fincher film too, but I just related to it on a very personal level and connected with it.
For that personal connection reason, I think it is one of my all time favorite films.

For me a major theme of the film was that you need to get started right now doing something. That thing you dreamed of. I like when he is those 2 guys in his car and drives the wrong way and then asks them what they have not done in life that they wanted to- "Build a house", "Paint a self portrait".
Which I interpreted as metaphors for building the life they wanted to do. But they had not started it yet. So you put someone in a do or die situation and show them the timeline for life is shorter, and they need to do that thing right now- A la Charles K. Hessel the veterinarian.

This is an uber-motivational -inspriational film for me. Right after seeing it, I immediately started making stuff.

And here what I got from it was that it was a bit of a commentary about the herd/mob mentality and how even though people seek to be individuals by breaking away rather violently they still end up being part of a group and still succumb to some form of identity loss.

I thought it was about a bunch of buddies getting together to make soap. You know, like an episode of The Little Rascals.
