Goddamn Land's art was distracting. I'm just so used to Skottie Young's pre-pubescent take on Pixie that this was hard to read.
Because, well why not... it seemed the only other FCBD thread was e
X-Men: I thought this was fantastic. The Land art actually wasn't half bad, and the story was great. I came away liking Pixie quite a bit more. This was as good or better than the Spider-Man FCBD issue last year.
I also came away with Hellboy, the Top Cow 'Broken Trinity' book (which looks interesting enough), The Virgin book, The Archie book and the Bongo book.
Neither shop I went to had Atomic Robo, EC Comics or the Scrooge-verse title. I was bummed. But it wasn't as bad as missing the Peanuts book last year.
And the shop I went to was giving out Hulk Encyclopedias which was... odd. But I took one, because well... why not?
What did everyone else get?

I liked the new X-Men, too.
Also, new Hellboy story by Mignola/Fegredo, and a new Project: Superpowers by Alex Ross' crew.
I got Dan Dare because I'm like super gay for Garth Ennis.
I passed on Atomic Robo and now wish I didn't.
"What if it snowed in San Francisco?"
It literally takes me months to get around to reading my comics sometimes... I salute your day-of-release-reading dedication to the hobby.![]()
Grabbed the Hellboy, Broken Trinity/Witchblade and X-Men books.
Saw the Superpowers one, but passed, I just wasnt interested enough, even with it being free. Pretty good turnout at my shop.
The Hellboy was a real treat! As good as anything I've paid $3.99 for.
After helping my buddy with his shop today I just grabbed Atomic Robo, and the X-Men one.
