My experience with cease and desist letters is that you just want to put the other party on notice as quickly as possible. It's not the time to lay out your entire argument or try and make friends.

I don't think it looks bad at all. The only way that you can say it looks bad is if you've evaluated all of the facts of the situation. Which we've established that nobody has (except Marvel legal, probably). If Marvel is in the right, then it looks fine. If they're in the wrong, then it looks bad.

And if it doesn't have an impact on the bottom line, then it doesn't matter how it looks.
