Oh yeah! I don't even know why I bought this, but goddamn if it wasn't entertaining! It's got a whole disc full of EARLY episodes, from 1956-1964. And then on to the 70's! A large African American woman is told by Bob Barker that she might win a "Colored Television!" A guy in contestants row tells Bob he is a gardener, and would like to win a lawn mower. He wins immediately, and his prize? A ride on lawnmower!
It's mostly from 1972-1975, so the clothes are hilarious. And the stuff that people win? When they aren't winning AMC Gremlins, they're winning yellow kitchen appliances that are strewn about alley ways now. It's fun to see a "new" refrigerator and imagine what it will look like covered in rust and mold, and tossed into the front yard of a New Jersey home.
I couldn't stop watching it. Recommended highly to everyone who loves shit.
Awesome.
It pisses me off that this exists, yet I still can't buy Top Gear on DVD in complete series form.
I can't believe you watched that.
Although I do remember when a game show prize of $25,000 was an extraordinary amount of money.
That actually sounds like a lot of fun, I might have to check this out now. Thanks
(and I spent some "quality" time with those showcase models around that time as a young lad ... )
Have they done one of these for Wheel of Fortune yet?
I'd like to see some of those old episodes where the contestants turn into floating heads in the corner of the screen and they pan around a showroom, spending their prize money on blenders and golf carts. I loved that part of the show.![]()
