Yamaha has been touring this thing around, getting it ready for mass release. It's expected to retail for $1200.

hmmm...not sure what to make of that thing. Seems almost "toy-like".

Pretty neat. I can see this being big for electronic music, but I'd be hard pressed to see the application of this in an ensemble/live setting. Also, does the thing do MIDI? $1200 seems a little steep.

EDIT: Looks like it comes with a cable that splits out/in. Weird.

seems... interesting, but it doesn't feel like it's gonna really move people like a stringed instrument or drum would. Someone above said "toy like" and damn if that's what it sounds like.

yeah, have you seen the guitar jam program thing for the Nintendo DS? That's sort of what I'm thinking about with this thing...

It's cool, to a degree-- but I think that the most interesting music that will be made by this thing will happen by someone picking it up and using it in a way that it was NOT intended to be used.
