What is your favorite character from any of the Kabuki volumes?

Ukiko, being a shy, private person struggling with a past she's not entirely happy with and searching for, and using art to help her discover, her identity, I relate to her most. Akemi is a close second, because she's like that one friend we all have that always says just the right thing when you need them to and knows so much about themselves that they know just how to help you find yourself.

Reading this thread has been enjoyable. I really thought there'd be more Akemi votes, though. There's the whole mysteriousness of who she is and everything, but further than that, Akemi and Ukiko's relationship is so complex and intriguing. There's the teacher/student bond that she has with Ukiko... Like, doesn't everyone want someone like that in their life, someone to help unlock life's mysteries and direct them onto the right path? Compound that aspect of their relationship with the suggestion of another connection between them, one based on personal attraction... and boom we have magic. One of my favorite scenes is their first kiss in Meta.

Wow, all this has got my mind geared to read more kabuki. I think I'll go back and re-read some of the stories until new stuff comes out. I know Dave's got a lot on his plate right now, but does anyone know what his current plans are for continuing this landmark series?

I would go with Akemi for her aiding others during times of duress.
Supporting characters I liked were the doctor and the vetrenarian.
