Newsarama: Jenny Lee Leaves Marvel

The times they are a-changin� at Marvel. Just a few weeks after moving their offices to a new 5th Avenue address, another Marvel editor has left the publisher � voluntarily left that is. Wolverine editor Jenny Lee�s last day at Marvel was Friday, May 27th. Lee joins CB Cebulski as the second editor hired during the Bill Jemas/Joe Quesada era to exit the publisher in as many months.

I knew marvel doesnt have editors anymore. There is no chaos magic my azz. Now writers can make up all kind of shit.

Actually, there are still editors. Axel Alonso, Tom Breevort, Joe Quesada.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to infer from this. Who knows why they left?

But do they have any power if they feel a change is needed in the story or do they just cosighn on the whole thing? Tom Breevort didnt like the avengers dissassembled but It didnt seem to matter.

Just becuase a single person doesn't like the story doesn't mean he's going to stop it. An editor's job is to make sure that the masses are going to like it, it's going to sell well, and that it doesn't suck. Him not liking it and it sucking don't go hand in hand (well, I guess sometimes it can). If Breevort's job was to stop every single story he didn't like then why not just make him the wirter on all of the books?

My guess is that he just tried to make it as good as he possibly could.

Um... they do have vetoing powers. One example is the fact that they had JMS change the father of the twins in Sins Past (What the hell is the girl's name?!) from Peter to Norman. And I'm sure there have been other instances in which the story has been changed that we're just not privy to.
