Why is DC so bad?

I wanted to get opinions on why this is so. I loved the Flash and Teen Titans until Johns left. I really am disappointed that none of the DC books seem to be good. Well, I take that back. I hear Booster Gold is really good and I know GL is goos. I just wish the rest of the DCU was on the same level.

My personal opinion is that there is no editorial direction on the books. If you pitch a story and the editors like it, they make room for you to tell it. DC does not seem concerned with making things work in conjunction with the rest of the universe. I have officially dropped all DC titles except GL. That book is self contained.

I would like to pitch my Countdown story. Countdown should have been the Siniestro core story. Over the course of the series, yellow rings should be showing up in all kinds of books. Occassionally, there is a story, in a Countdown ongoing or maybe a mini, that shows some of the origins of the Sinestro Corps. Then at the end of Countdown, Sinestro shows up and says his plan. The first issue of Countdown ends with the AntiMonitor. Final Crisis is the Anitmonitor's attempt to do his thing.

That is Johns' GL story but spread out. However, Countdown makes no sense whatsoever. I give up.

countdown has the air of being confusing and bad. and its the lead up to final crisis. and it seems like all of dc's marketing is behind this stuff. it seems bigger and worse than it is.

green lantern, action comics, and booster gold are all great. wonder woman is awesome. now that ras al ghul whatever is done, paul dini's batman has been good. blue beetle is good. robin looks good again. teen titans is alright. i actually like shooter's legion too.

it's not that bad. im a marvel guy, but dc is doing better than they seem.

Countdown is probably the big blight on DC's current roster of books otherwise they are producing some fantastic reading IMO.

JSA, Checkmate, Nightwing (Peter Tomasi's 1st issue has a lot of promise), Green Lantern, Jonah Hex, Batman are just a few of the fine selections from DC at this time.

Countdown indeed sucks, but I get plenty of titles and there haven't been ANY tie-ins. It seems Countown is relegated to easily avoided mini-series like Arena and that horrible looking Kyle/Donna/Jason stuff.

DC stumbled immediately after Infinite Crisis, with tons of fill-ins and late/rushed books, but right now I'd say their core ongoings (except for Flash & Teen Titans) are all good reads.

I guess none of them are bad individually, but how do they work now? Is Superman the pre-Crisis Superman? Green Lantern's book shows a ravaged Earth, but why does no other book recognize it? Which Superman is the one to read, Action or Superman? They seem to be two different guys.

I guess the thing that is bothering me is that I spent a lot of money on Infinite Crisis and nothing works togther anymore. All the stories seem good as stand alones, but as a whole nothing ties. I am not saying it has to be tight, but when something as big as the Sinestro Corps happens, there should be some reaction to the events.

Marvel has not always been good at that either, but DC is now on its second HUGE crossover in three years and all the books onlyl work on their own.
