    UFC 80: Live To Tape

    Courtesy Figure Four Online:

    1. Jorge Rivera vs. Kendall Grove
    1. Jorge Rivera vs. Kendall Grove. There is no other way to explain this than to say that Jorge beat the shit out of him and won in one minute. A brutal manhandling.
    2. Jason Lambert vs. Wilson Gouveia.
Gouveia won in round two via one punch knockout. It was funny afterwards as they showed a replay and Gouveia's commentary was, "BYE!", and Rogan responded, "BYE INDEED!"
    3. Marcus Davis vs. Jess Liaudin.
Davis got his 11th straight win with the second straight one punch KO on this show. He then cut the longest promo in all of history afterwards.

Been reading the play by play on Sherdog. Kind of glad I skipped this one, although the Penn/Stevenson fight sounded like a good one and I would like to have seen the Rivera/Grove match.

Skipped it. Will be skipping 81 and even wavering on 82. I was in until Gono got injured.

I saw all the fights minus the Gonzaga/Werdum fight and the second half of the Paul Kelly/Paul Taylor fight.

This was an amazing show, best card i've ever seen.

    4. Paul Taylor vs. Paul Kelly.
First few minutes of this fight were an awesome brawl, then it became mostly a ground battle. Taylor has been on the bottom for most of the two rounds we've seen so far, and now has a brutal cut on his forehead. We're into the third. Same as the second. Kelly got the decision.
    5. Fabricio Werdum vs. Gabriel Gonzaga.
Fun first round with some HARD ass kicks and some fun grappling. Werdum won. It was really strange. It was like a sudden gassing on the part of Gonzaga. He just sort of laid down by the fence and Gonzaga laid in shot after shot after shot for the stoppage.
    6. BJ Penn vs. Joe Stevenson for the vacant UFC Lightweight title.
Penn beat the holy living hell out of him in the first and then busted him open with an elbow. You have never seen so much blood in your life. We'll see if they let this go to round two. It's over. BJ choked him out in the second. Both guys and the mat are drenched in blood and it looks like a killing field. Good luck, Sherk.

    I presume that was it
    Spoiler:
although I'm trying to figure out how they didn't air any prelims with 3 fights stopping in the 2nd, another in the first, and Marcus Davis did win via knockout, so what the fuck did they do with all the extra time?

Re: UFC 80: Live To Tape

i was thinking about passing on it, but my coach invited the whole team over to watch it and the roy jones / trinidad fight on his hd big screen. it was an alright ppv (main event was great), but i'm still not sure it would have been enough to warrant me buying it if i was going to watch it at home.

my thoughts on bj / joe
    Spoiler:
pretty much how everyone expected it to go, but the blood was just crazy. andy's not joking when he talked about how much blood there was. at the end of the fight bj didn't have a scratch on him, but there was so much of joe's blood that you would have thought bj was cut pretty bad too. bj's white shorts were literally stained pink by the end of the fight.

also, bj telling sherk that he's dead was greatness.

Didn't catch the whole show, but I watched Penn/Stevenson.

    Spoiler:
Penn just outclassed Joe. That elbow was beautiful. You could see Joe's frustration throughout the whole thing. Can't wait for Sherk/Penn.

Great ppv. I decided to get it at the last minute and I'm really glad I did. The first three winners all deserved a KO of the night bonus and BJ was phenomenal. I can't wait to see him fight Sherk. Gonzaga was a huge dissapointment tho. The UFC's heavyweight division sucks.

Yeah I thought it was pretty awesome. I didn't expect it to be that good. I knew BJ would crush Joe Stevenson. Honestly, what do you expect from Brock Lesnar? I'm sure once everyone looks pass the WWE shit, they'll see he's a pretty decorated college wrestler.
