Grand Rapids, MI - A couple is devastated after neighbors supposedly stole their statue of Jesus from a pedestal in their front yard.
The large statue of Jesus belonged to the uncle of Jean Mansel until he passed away recently. Since then, the statue has been in the Mansel's front yard on Lindy Lane.
Jean and Bob Mansel own several dachshunds. Jean walks them around the neighborhood frequently and never used to bother picking up after them when they were finished with their “business.” Last year some of the neighbors made a formal complaint.
Jean says, "I wrote them a letter back and said sorry, yes I'm guilty and it will never happen again." Now, Jean says she picks up anything that they do.
Late one night, someone stole their statue and left a ransom note in their mailbox. The note is as follows:
“We are holding Jesus ransom until you clean up the poopie from your wieners and trust us we see you take your wieners for long walks w/out picking up their poopie in our yards. This has upset us dearly so please clean up all the weiner poopie, if you want to see Jesus unharmed. Sincerely,
Lindy Lane Residents.”
Jean says, “It's childish and devastating at the same time."
