I am on the fence too of wanting to buy this to learn Japanese before my wife and I make our trip there for our ten year anniversary.
I want to learn a second language. As I've been watching Mexican Winter League Baseball on ESPN Deportes for the last hour, I want to learn Spanish.
Yeah, yeah it's beneficial to learn it for many reasons, but watching more baseball is my main motivating factor.
So, any experience with the Rosetta Stone systems anyone? How'd you like it? Did you learn the language?

I did her before I got married. She likes the brown way.
my girlfriend is using it now to learn italian. she likes it a great deal. it is very expensive, though.
A friend of a friend claims by the time he was done with the set, he was fluent. I don't know him personally, but for $400 (for the complete set), it better work!
I'm really considering it too (for Japanese), but I've already had a few semesters. I don't know if the first set will be too remedial or if it will be good for catching me back up...it's been 2 years since my last course and I haven't used it pretty much at all since then. I need to quickly get back up to speed in case I am able to get my ass over to Japan sometime in the next year. I'm very tempted to get Rosetta Stone, but not sure if it will be worth the $$$
When my lady went to Malaysia she picked up every Rosetta Stone ever produced for something like 20 bucks. I used the Italian one and I think it works pretty well. I don't know if it's worth the price, though - I'm taking an Italian class now and I feel like I'm learning more.
